	Paedophilia: Priest on Trial in March AGI [Italy] November 10, 2005 (AGI) - Como, Nov. 10 - He has always pleaded innocent, denying any accusation of sexual violence. He pleaded innocent at the preliminary hearing before Judge Nicoletta Cremona who referred the case to trial accused of being a paedophilic priest. His trial commences in Como March 28. Thirty eight year old Priest, Don Mauro Stefanoni, is accused of luring a 14 year old disabled boy into sexual relations. The trial will not only hear from the 14 year olds teachers, but also from a priest with whom the young boy confided. Alarming anomalies in his behaviour also emerged at school at the beginning of the year. Don Mauro, represented by defence lawyers Marinelli and Bonparola, has been under house arrest since May 2005 at his parents home in Cantu'. According to the investigations findings, Don Mauro had also abused other children. However, Don Mauro continues to deny all accusations sustaining that he would not be capable of such behaviour. When searching Don Mauro's home police found pornographic material, including invoices from Sky TV for dozens of hard porn films. Furthermore, the priest's computer contained hundreds of forbidden websites. The trial will play on the credibility of the presumed victim: according to court psychiatrists, he is totally reliable even if suffering from relational problems. (AGI) -
