Local Church Leaders Blasted on Priest Abuse

February 8, 2006

(CBS) CHICAGO The Survivors Network of Those Abused by Priests was turning up the heat Wednesday night on the top two Roman Catholic prelates in the Chicago area.

Following criminal charges accusing the Rev. Daniel McCormack of sexually abusing young boys, the Survivors Network is blasting Francis Cardinal George for claiming that the family of a victim did not talk to church officials.

The group is also demanding proof that the cardinal appointed monitors for accused priests.

The organization wants similar documents from Joliet Bishop Joseph Imesch about abuse cases in his diocese.
