(New York-AP, Apr. 11, 2006 8:45 PM) _ A fired high school administrator and defrocked priest who had been on the run for almost six months is now in jail without bail in New York City.

57-year-old Bruce Jacques was arraigned in Manhattan Criminal Court today on charges of sexually molesting a teenage student last year. He was charged with one count of third-degree criminal sex act.

His next court appearance is Friday.

Assistant Manhattan District Attorney Kerry O'Connell says Jacques was caught Sunday while trying to sneak into the United States from British Columbia on Canada's west coast. Kerry says Jacques had spent most of his time as a fugitive in Malaysia.

O'Connell told the court that the charge against the former Episcopalian priest stems from an act he allegedly performed on a Robert Louis Stevenson School student in Central Park on October 20th, 2005. O'Connell says that by the time police were contacted, Jacques had fled.

Meanwhile, the student's parents have filed a lawsuit in Brooklyn's state Supreme Court against Jacques, the headmaster who hired him and the school. The suit charges the defendants with negligence and recklessness in hiring

Jacques.

Jacques's background included being dismissed as a priest by the Episcopal Church in New Milford, Connecticut, more than seven years ago for allegedly propositioning a 13-year-old boy.
