Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rudd said Thursday the Catholic Church should react to every case of sexual abuse by clergy, reports AFP.

"It is important that the church reacts in every single case of sexual abuse, perpetrated by clergymen", stated the PM.

Pope Benedict XVI attends the catholic church youth festival in Australia, where he is to voice his stance on the issue.

The visit comes in the midst of a scandal engulfing the Australian catholic church, where a priest sexually abused two girls, one of whom has committed suicide.
