Michael Freymuth from active ministry because of a possible lawsuit against the priest, according to a statement released by the archdiocese. In 2005, the man who may file the lawsuit accused Freymuth of sexual abuse occuring in the 1980s, but the archdiocese's review board cleared the priest of wrongdoing at the time. Freymuth is in residence at Visitation-St. Ann Catholic Church in north St. Louis. In the statement, Monsignor Richard Hanneke, director of priest personnel for the archdiocese, said Hermann had decided to remove Freymuth from active ministry pending further review "because we take all allegations of abuse very seriously."
