Elsberry, MO — A St. Louis priest who once served in Elsberry will go to trial Oct. 5 on sex charges.

Fifty-seven-year-old James Patrick Grady is accused of using an Internet ad to hire a 16-year-old girl to perform oral sex.

The girl turned out to be an undercover agent for the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

Federal authorities say Grady and the undercover agent exchanged e-mails describing the price and acts that would be performed.

Grady allegedly responded that he would pay $80 for 30 minutes with the girl. A meeting with the fictitious teen was arranged and Grady was taken into custody.

Grady has been suspended as pastor of St. Raphael the Archangel Church in south St. Louis, He had served as pastor of Sacred Heart Church in Elsberry from 1995 to 2000.

Grady is free on $10,000 bond, but must wear an electronic ankle bracelet and stay at the Vianney Renewal Center in Dittmer until his trial.
