Priest accused of "inappropriate electronic communication"

JEFFERSON CITY, MO. -- The Catholic Diocese of Jefferson City has temporarily ousted a priest accused of "inappropriate electronic communication" with a minor.

Fr. Thomas Seifner, pastor of Immaculate Conception Church in Loose Creek and St. Louis Church in Bonnots Mill, was placed on "temporary administrative leave" by Bishop Gaydos in late December.

The incident took place five years ago and the individual is no longer a minor.

The diocese's review board is conducting an investigation into the allegations.

Seifner was ordained in 1992 and worked in churches in Westphalia, Pilot Grove, Loose Creek, Clifton City, Wardsville, Chamois, Palmyra and Mokane.

The Survivors Network of those Abused by Priests (SNAP) is accusing the Jefferson City diocese of not acting promptly when child sex abuse cases come up.
