SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - The videotaped deposition of a disgraced former bishop was released to the public on Monday.

22News received a copy of the video showing the bishop respond so several questions about supervising a priest that reportedly abused children.

Disgraced former Bishop Thomas Dupre used to supervise the priest that is accused of clergy abuse.

The attorney of alleged clergy abuse victim, Andrew Nicastro, sat down with Dupre for a taped deposition in April to question him about the abuse and see if he helped cover what the now de-frocked bishop, Alfred Graves, reportedly did.

Dupre's attorney filed to impound the videotaped interview claiming its release was unecessary and would cause undue embarrasment to the former bishop.

The alleged victim's attorney fought to have it released because he claims Dupre was avoiding answering questions by pleading the fifth, and he wants the public to see his demeanor while he's doing that.

Bishop Dupre has, in the past, been accused of abusing children himself. In fact, he is the nation's first bishop to be indicted on criminal charges. He was never prosecuted because the statute of limitations ran out in 2004.

He's now believed to be seeking treatment in a D.C. area facility.
