PEORIA -- Former central Illinois priest Thomas Miller loses his appeal after being dismissed from the clerical state in October 2006.

The Diocese of Peoria sent out a news release today stating that the Congregation for the Doctrine of Faith rejected Miller's appeal, upholding the original decision.

Miller is now permanently dismissed from the clerical state, he was originally placed on administrative leave in 2004 for allegations in a 1979 incident.

The Diocese reviewed the evidence and found Miller guilty of sexually abusing a minor.

Miller served at Holy Trinity Parish in Bloomington, and St. Bernard and St. Vincent in Peoria.
