A review board for the Catholic Diocese of Pittsburgh says sex abuse claims against a pastor placed on leave last year are "credible" and will be sent to the Vatican.

Diocesan officials say the Rev. David Dzermejko (jer-MAY'-koh) denied wrongdoing when he was removed as pastor of Mary, Mother of the Church parish in Charleroi in June 2009.

The priest remains on administrative leave while the Vatican determines whether the allegations are sufficient to permanently remove him from ministry, or require a trial to determine that.

Dzermejko was removed after a couple claimed he abused their son, who has since died, at a different parish.

Dzermejko had been at the Washington County parish for 18 years, 10 as pastor.
