Over the past 11 years the Church’s response team investigated 45 allegations of abuse, dating as far back as the 1970s.

The 45 cases do not just date back 11 years, as erroneously reported in the item entitled Child Abuse Allegations: No Comment On When Church Probe Will Reach A Conclusion, which appeared on Wednesday. The response team was set up 11 years ago but it investigated cases that allegedly took place before.

The Curia clarified that in 13 of the 45 cases, the response team concluded there was basis for the allegations made but found no basis in 19 other cases.

The remaining 13 were still pending.
