KENOSHA - Kenosha police say the priest accused of having an inappropriate phone conversation with a minor girl refused to talk to investigators Monday and has retained an attorney.

Police Sgt. Jim Heiring says the case has been turned over to the department's sensitive crimes unit.

Archbishop Jerome Listecki said in a letter to parishioners that there is no alleged sexual contact between Fr. Michael Nowak and the girl, but that he was placing Nowak on leave pending the results of an investigation.

The girl's parents contacted the Kenosha Police Department after the alleged incident.

Fr. Dominic Thomas has been assigned as St. Theresa's temporary administrator.
