Priest Arrested On Sex Abuse Charges In The Bronx: MyFoxNY.com
MYFOXNY.COM - An 87-year-old priest at Our Blessed Lady Church in The Bronx is accused of sexually abusing a teen in the church's rectory.
Father Jaime Duenas was arrested Tuesday afternoon. According to police, the alleged victim is a 16-year-old girl.
Duenas is charged with Forcible Touching and Sexual Abuse.
The girl reportedly told police she was abused over the course of three days in the past week.
Our Blessed Lady Church is located at East 233rd Street in the Eastchester section of The Bronx. The rectory-- where priests live-- is next to the church.
FOX 5 News has reached out to the New York Archdiocese for comment.
Reporter Joel Waldman spoke with several residents and church members who were shocked to hear about the arrest.
"Truthfully, I'm in shock. Not him. This is mind blowing."
"I'm a proud member (of the church.) These allegations will absolutely, positively be proven to be false. He is an excellent man."
