Deacon Charged with Indecent Exposure

August 17, 2011

A local deacon has been arrested, charged with indecent exposure and disorderly conduct.

Rhode Island State Police arrested Deacon Robert Alessio, 70, of Westerly last week.

Investigators tell Eyewitness News the arrest was the result of a trooper responding to the Route 95 South weigh station in Richmond for a report of a suspicious individual.

Alessio was arraigned at the Hope Valley Barracks and was released on personal recognizance.

He is expected to be back in court on August 31st.

Alessio was the second deacon arrested this month in Rhode Island; Deacon Laurence Gagnon, 71, was charged with molesting students at St. Joseph’s School in West Warwick last week.
