A lawyer for a Rhode Island man who has publicly accused a now-deceased member of a Roman Catholic religious order of molesting him says he is trying to determine whether the man had liability insurance.

Boston attorney Mitchell Garabedian said Tuesday he is researching whether the Sacred Heart Boarding School in Sharon, Mass., had insured the late Brother Regis.

Garabedian's client, 70-year-old James Meunier, alleged at a press conference that Regis molested him at the school as a seventh grader in the 1950s.

Meunier has filed a civil suit in Norfolk County Superior Court in Massachusetts against Regis and the late Brother Jean-Rosaire.

Messages for the New England Province of the Brothers of the Sacred Heart and its lawyer did not immediately return messages on Tuesday.
