A sexual assault charge has been dropped against a priest accused of groping a teenage girl in La Crosse last summer.

38-year-old David Szatkowski of Franklin, WI, who was in town for an August conference on canon law, was initially charged with felony second-degree sexual assault for allegedly touching the 15-year-old girl inappropriately outside the Radisson Hotel.

Szatkowski pleaded not guilty in November to misdemeanor fourth-degree sexual assault, which was dismissed along with a misdemeanor disorderly conduct charge.

La Crosse County Assistant District Attorney Emily Hynek tells News 8 the charges were dismissed after further investigation and discussions with the victim, who did not want to move forward with the case.
