Call for RTE Resignations at Oireachtas Commitee

Galway Bay FM

Members of the Oireachtas Communications Committee are calling on the Chairman and the Director General of RTE to resign.

Senior figures in the State broadcaster are appearing in Leinster House again today to discuss the defamation case of Ahascragh priest, Fr Kevin Reynolds.

TDs Mattie McGrath and Tom Barry as well as Senator John Whelan say Tom Savage and Noel Curran's position are untenable.

Senator John Whelan says if the reputation of the RTE current affairs department is to be restored - then Tom Savage needs to step aside.

However, the Chairman of RTE says it would be wrong and cowardly to walk away from his position.
