Statement on Father Octavio Munoz Capetillo

Arquidiocesis de Chicago
August 3, 2015

http://www.archdioceseofchicago.org/news_releases/news_2015/stmnt_150803.html

On July 27, 2015, Archbishop Blase J. Cupich removed Father Octavio Munoz Capetillo, pastor of St. Pancratius from ministry, pending resolution of an investigation of material found on a computer in his possession. Given the nature of the material, we reported our concerns to the civil authorities and will cooperate fully in their investigation. In the interim, Archbishop Cupich has withdrawn Father Munozís faculties, his authority to minister. An Administrator will be appointed to assume Fr. Munozís duties at St. Pancratius and Father Munoz will reside away from the parish until the matter is resolved.

The Archdiocese is committed to ensuring those serving our parishioners are fit for ministry. Archbishop Cupich offers his assurance of prayers and solidarity with the community at St. Pancratius, knowing that this development is unsettling and he pledges to provide updates on this situation as they become available.
