  Priest Goes to Police after Sex Charge

A Catholic priest turned himself in to D.C. police yesterday after he was charged with having sexual relations with a young boy, officials said.

Father Walter Dayton Salisbury of the St. Luke Parish on East Capitol Street, had "indecent sexual acts" with a minor, police said.

The alleged incident took place Jan. 27 as the priest was tutoring an unidentified boy in the church rectory.

Father Salisbury, 61, turned himself in about 6 a.m. at police headquarters at 300 Indiana Ave. NW.

He has lived in the D.C. area for eight years.

He has no pending or prior convictions in the D.C. area.
