Former Phoenix Priest Accused of Molesting a 2nd Parishioner

Arizona Republic
November 25, 1993

For the second time this year, a former Catholic priest from Phoenix has been accused of sexual misconduct with a male parishioner.

The latest lawsuit against Henry Perez, who has left the priesthood and lives in Los Angeles, was filed Tuesday in Maricopa County Superior Court by a Phoenix man who claims Perez molested him several times in the late 1970s while he was an altar boy at an east Phoenix church. The action is similar to a lawsuit filed June 30 by a Chandler man.

Howard Gaines, a Los Angeles attorney for Perez, could not be reached Wednesday for comment on the latest lawsuit, but he has filed court papers in the earlier action denying any wrongdoing by Perez.
