  SJC Upholds Priest's Conviction

Boston Globe
July 21, 1994

The state Supreme Judicial Court yesterday upheld the conviction of a Catholic priest who was accused of photographing a partially undressed child. Rev. Ronald D. Provost, 55, the former pastor of St. Joseph's Church in Barre, was convicted in 1993 of taking pictures with "lascivious intent." Provost's 10-year prison term was suspended, on condition that he stay away from young children. The SJC rejected Provost's challenge that the law was unconstitutionally overbroad.
