  Priest Denies Sex Exploitation Charges

Wisconsin State Journal
August 9, 1995

A Catholic priest charged with sexual exploitation has denied any wrongdoing with a parishioner he was counseling.

The Rev. Edward Witczak was charged Monday in Brown County Circuit Court with two felony counts of sexual exploitation by a therapist.

Witczak, 61, who now lives in Sturgeon Bay, was the pastor of St. Elizabeth Seton Parish in Green Bay at the time of the alleged incidents.

The alleged victim, now 29, filed a civil suit last month against Witczak, the parish and the Green Bay diocese, claiming they were responsible for sexual exploitation and threats by Witczak.

Witczak, the parish and the diocese have denied those allegations.
