COURT ACTIONS

St. Louis: The 8th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals on Thursday refused to block extradition of Gregory J. Sutton, a former area school principal, to Australia, where he is accused of three dozen sexual assaults on children. Australian authorities have been working since August to extradite Sutton. He is charged in New South Wales with 36 sexual offenses against youngsters under the age of 16, authorities said. The incidents allegedly occurred a decade ago at a Catholic school. Sutton has been held without bail since August, when federal marshals arrested him at his home in Shrewsbury. He had been principal of St. Dismas Catholic School in Florissant for two years.
