Zachary Man Pleads Guilty to Molestation

The Advocate [Baton Rouge, Louisiana]
May 15, 1996

A Zachary man who served as a New Orleans area priest and later as a police officer pleaded guilty Tuesday to molesting young girls, a prosecutor said.

Francis William "Billy" LeBlanc, 59, admitted touching the three girls on several occasions between March 1, 1994, and Aug. 16, 1995, Jennifer Pate said.

The girls were between the ages of 7 and 10 at the time, Pate said.

"He has acknowledged that this is what he did to the children," Pate said.

LeBlanc, of 1717 Job St., is no longer a priest or police officer, Pate said. The touching occurred when the girls spent nights at LeBlanc's house, Pate said.

All the victims are in counseling now, she said.

"They were traumatized because they trusted him," Pate said.

The maximum sentence for child molestation is 15 years, Pate said.

Judge Mike Erwin will sentence LeBlanc on Aug. 13, she said.
