  Rev. Richard Ruffalo, Joliet Priest

The Rev. Richard M. Ruffalo, 62, a priest of the Diocese of Joliet, died Friday at St. Joseph Hospital in Chicago. He had suffered a stroke about a month ago.

For the last several years, Father Ruffalo had been pastor of Holy Cross Church in Joliet and taught religion at St. Raymond's grade school. As diocesan master of ceremonies, he assisted the bishop at confirmations and other liturgies.

A Chicago native, Father Ruffalo graduated from St. Mel High School and studied at Quigley Preparatory Seminary and St. Procopius College in Lisle. He was ordained in 1959.

Father Ruffalo is survived by a sister, Arlene Boezio.

Visitation will be from 2 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 901 Elizabeth St., Joliet. Mass will be offered at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Cathedral of St. Raymond's, 604 N. Raynor St., Joliet. Burial will be in Queen of Heaven Cemetery, 1400 S. Wolf Rd., Hillside.
