BOMBARDIER, Rev. Wilfrid F.

Rev. Wilfrid F. Bombardier, 85, of Manchester, NH, died Saturday, (September 16, 2000). Born in North Adams, MA, on July 23, 1915, one of 15 children, to Alexander and Georgianna (Thibodeau) Bombardier. Rev. Bombardier was ordained on December 12, 1943 with the Congregation of Blessed Sacrament Fathers, St. Joseph Cathedral, Cleveland, OH. He served with the Blessed Sacrament Fathers for 27 years in their missions in the U.S., Australia and the Philippines, as a teacher, parish priest and hospital chaplain. He began his work in the Diocese of Manchester, NH, in 1970 as Assoc. Pastor at St. Patrick Parish of Manchester. He later served with Sacred Heart Parish of Laconia, NH, St. Denis Parish of Hanover, NH, Chaplain at Mary Hitchcock Hospital in Hanover, NH and St. Bernard Parish, Keene, NH. He served as Administrator of Immaculate Conception Parish of Troy, NH and Chaplain at Good Shepard Nursing Home, Jaffrey, NH. He retired from active ministry in 1990. Following retirement, he lived in Berlin, NH, assisting in the parishes of the city. He is survived by a sister, Viola Beaupre of E. Hartford; six nephews, Theodore Bombardier of Brunswick, ME, Richard Bombardier of Manchester, Robert Bombardier of S. Windsor, Albert Bombardier of Stafford, Ernest Violette of Palmer, MA, Wilfred Bombardier of Williamstown, MA; three nieces, Elaine Haddad of Columbia, Eleanor Landry of Amsterdam, NY, Marie Richardson of Adams, MA. The Rite of Reception of the body will take place at St. Bernard Church, 185 Main St., Keene, NH, on Tues. at 5 p.m. A service of Solemn Vespers will be at 8 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wed., 11 a.m., in St. Bernard Church. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Keene, NH. Family and friends may call at St. Bernard Church Tues., 6-8 p.m. Foley Funeral Home, Keene, NH. has charge of the arrangements.
