  Regarding Fr. Edmund Borycz

June 30, 2002

Effective June 30th, Fr. Edmund Borycz (pronounced Bore-shh), 61, has been placed on an administrative leave of absence from his position as pastor of St. Michael Parish in Livonia. This action is taken pending the resolution of credible allegations of sexual misconduct dating back to the early years of his ministry. An allegation was received and considered by the archdiocese in late spring; additional information was recently supplied by civil authorities currently reviewing allegations of sexual misconduct by Catholic clergy reported in the past 15 years. Fr. Borycz has been cooperating fully in this process. Fr. William Pettit, a senior priest, will fill in at St. Michael until July 20, when Fr. Ralph Kowalski, also a senior priest, will become temporary administrator of the parish.
