A Nigerian priest on sabbatical in Iowa County is being investigated by the Iowa County District Attorney's Office for alleged misconduct.

The Rev. Peter Claver Arnoue, a priest of the Diocese of Owere, Nigeria, is on administrative leave pending the investigation, the Diocese of Madison said Monday.

Bill Brophy, a spokesman for the diocese, did not specify the nature of the allegations against Arnoue, who was acting as administrator for St. Patrick Parish in Hollandale and Immaculate Conception Parish in Blanchardville. Todd Novak, a spokesman for the District Attorney's Office, said the office received the information late Monday and had no comment this morning.

Church officials received a report of misconduct by Arnoue late last week, and an announcement was read at weekend Masses at both parishes that Arnoue was on leave.

Bishop William H. Bullock has appointed the Rev. Randy Budnar as temporary administrator of the two parishes.
