Father Jerzy Sieczynski, arrested Friday on a charge of indecent exposure, will be placed on administrative leave while the Archdiocese of San Antonio conducts an internal investigation, said Deacon Pat Rodgers, director of communications.

"He'll have no public ministry while the investigation continues," Rodgers said Sunday.

Sieczynski, 52, is the associate pastor of St. Matthews' Catholic Church.

Rodgers said Sieczynski met with the vicar general, Monsignor Lawrence J. Stuebben, to relate what happened, and Archbishop Patrick Flores has been advised of the allegations.

The archdiocese is waiting to review the police report.

Sieczynski was arrested at 2:20 p.m. Friday in the men's public restroom at Acequia Park, 8510 Mission Parkway.

The police report said a man drove past an undercover San Antonio Park police officer several times, smiling at him each time. When the police officer left his unmarked car and entered the restroom, the man followed, greeting him as he walked to a urinal.

The man allegedly turned from the urinal, exposing himself to the officer. A second officer entered and arrested Sieczynski.

Sieczynski was released on $1,000 bond.

He is a member of the archdiocese's Catholic Schools Council, according to its Web site, and is the parochial vicar.
