Rev. Msgr. James P. McIntyre, 60, of Cape May Court House, passed away on Wednesday, August 11, 2004 at his home. He was born in Philadelphia, PA to the late James P. and Catherine (Goldthorp) McIntyre. He was ordained a priest on May 22, 1971 and appointed Prelate of Honor by Pope John Paul II on December 5, 1991. Msgr. McIntyre presently was the pastor of Our Lady of the Angels Roman Catholic Church in Cape May Court House. He previously was the pastor at St. Maria Goretti in Runnemede and Holy Family in Sewell. He formerly was the Priest Personnel Director for the Diocese of Camden and in charge of the Charismatic Renewal after Bishop Schad. He was recently assigned as chief administrator for Bishop McHugh Regional School. He was very involved in meditation and was very fond of the Meditation Group that he formed at Our Lady of the Angels.


Msgr. McIntyre is survived by his brother, Rev. Msgr. Thomas McIntyre of Cape May; his sister, Jeannie Reilly of Mt. Laurel; his nieces and nephews, Maureen, Donna, Janice, Christopher, Richard, and Kevin; his great nephew and great niece, Nicholas and Courtney; and his dog, Tiny.

Viewing will be held on Monday, August 16, 2004 from 4:00 to 6:30 p.m. at Our Lady of the Angels Church, Parkway and East Mechanic Street, Cape May Court House. Mass of the High Priest will follow at 7:00 p.m. There will be a viewing on Tuesday, August 17, 2004 from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. at the church. Bishop Joseph Galante will preside at the Funeral Liturgy on Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at the church. Interment will be in New St. Mary's Cemetery, Bellmawr.
