On August 27, 2007, the Diocese of Davenport's Review Board recommended that Father Gerald Stouvenal be temporarily removed from active ministry while an independent investigator looks into claims that Stouvenal sexually abused children. Prior to this removal, Stouvenal had been placed in a "restricted ministry" status.
