Born in August 1943, Etienne LeBlanc grew up in the St. Charles Community near Raceland. He is the son of Etienne J. LeBlanc Sr. and the former Mae L. LaGarde, who are both now deceased.

He attended Thibodaux Junior High, and then St. Joseph's Seminary in St. Benedict. He studied philosophy and theology at Notre Dame Seminary in New Orleans, and did post-graduate work at Holy Cross College in Algiers. He also earned additional degrees in history and religious education.

He was ordained May 29, 1971, at St. Patrick's Church in Port Sulphur by the Most Rev. Phillip Hannan. After deaconate assignments in Reserve and Buras, he served as a priest at Our Lady of Prompt Succor in Westwego.

Subsequent assignments follow:

• Pastor, St. Thomas Aquinas in Thibodaux, 1980-87.

• Six-month sabbatical in 1986.

• Pastor, Holy Cross in Morgan City, 1987-2000.

• Six-month sabbatical from June 1999 to January 2000.

• Part-time associate, St. Hilary of Poitiers in Mathews, 2001.

• Administrator and then pastor, Holy Family in Dulac and St. Eloi in Dularge, 2001-04.

• Pastor, Annunziata in Houma, 2004-present.
