Reverend, Thomas J. Zedar 69, died at his residence in Port Charlotte, Florida on February 8, 2009. Father Zedar was born on April 23, 1939 in Carbondale, Pennsylvania. He was ordained on May 1, 1965 in the Diocese of Syracuse, New York. Father Zedar served as Parochial Vicar at St. Michael the Archangel Parish, Sarasota (10/3/88 – 7/1/91); incarnated in the Diocese of Venice on 1/14/92; served as Parochial Vicar at Our Lady Queen of Martyrs Parish, Sarasota (7/1/91-9/8/92); as Temporary Administrator at Our Lady Queen of Martyrs Parish, Sarasota (11/25/91 – 3/26/92); as Administrator of Mission at Deep Creek, Port Charlotte (9/3/92 – 4/20/93 and Pastor at San Antonio Parish in Port Charlotte since 4/20/93. Fr. Zedar was instrumental in building San Antonio Catholic Church. He retired on September 8, 2006.

He is survived by his brother Frank Zedar of Palm Coast, Florida, his three nieces and one nephew and many friends.

Visitation Thursday, February 12, 2009 from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at San Antonio Catholic Church, 24445 Rampart Blvd. Port Charlotte, Florida

Funeral Mass for Fr. Tom will be celebrated on Friday, February 13, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. in San Antonio Catholic Church, presided over by, Bishop Frank Dewane. Because space in the church is limited, a second Mass to accommodate parishioners will be celebrated on Monday, February 16, 2009 at 11:00 A.M., presided over by, Fr. Christopher Senk.
