JOHN BRICKLEY

Ordained in 1935.

Accused of sexual abuse of several male minors, including an 8-year-old boy (in 1966), while at Sacred Heart, in Eagle Grove, and St. Mary, in Williams. His priestly activities were restricted in 1998.

He died in 1998.



ALBERT CARMAN

Ordained 1945.

Accused of abusing a young teen at Loras Academy, Dubuque, in 1954. He died in 1980.







TIMOTHY DeVENNEY

Ordained in 1993.

Accused of sexual abuse of several male minors while at St. Columbkille, Dubuque, from 1993 to 1996. Suspended from the priesthood in 1996. Pleaded guilty in January 1997 and sentenced to 10 years in prison in April 1997. Released from prison and parole since December, 2001. He lives in a facility run by a religious order outside of Washington, D.C.





HENRY DUNKEL

Ordained in 1945.

Accused of sexual abuse of several female minors while at St. Columbkille, Dubuque in 1947 and 1948. His priestly activities were restricted in 1992.

He died in 1998.





ALBERT FORSTER

Ordained in 1990.

Accused of sexual abuse of several male minors in the 1960s. He died in 1990.







WILLIAM GOLTZ

Ordained in 1950.

Accused of abusing young males at St. Raphael, Dubuque, and at Sacred Heart, Oelwein, in 1951 to 1954. Priestly activities restricted in 1992. Vatican imposed penal precept in 2005. He died in 2006.






THOMAS KNOX

Ordained in 1942.

Accused of sexual abuse of male minors while at Sacred Heart, in Oelwein in the late 1940s.

He died in 1968.






PATRICK McELLIOTT

Ordained in 1936.

Accused of abusing young females at St. John, Waterloo, in 1962 and at St. Patrick, Colesburg, in 1964. He died in 1987.







JULIUS OLINGER

Ordained in 1931.

He has a claim of sexual abuse from his assignment to St. Mary, New Hampton, 1957-1958. He died in 1993.






JOSEPH PATNODE

Ordained in 1918.

Accused of sexual abuse of several male minors while at St. Joseph, Key West, in the 1940s. He died in 1977.






JOHN PETERS

Ordained in 1944.

Accused of abusing male minors at St. Joseph, Harpers Ferry, in 1962. He died in 1997.







ROBERT REISS

Ordained in 1955.

Accused of abusing male minors at Visitation in Stacyville in 1975 to 1977. He was defrocked in 1997. He died in 2005.






WILLIAM ROACH

Ordained in 1945.

Accused of abusing two male teens at Immaculate Conception, Cedar Rapids, in 1962 and young man in Key West in 1970. He served as archdiocesan chancellor, 1955 to 1960 and as vicar general, 1958 to 1961. He died in a traffic accident in 1986.






ALLEN SCHMITT

Ordained in 1971.

Accused of sexual abuse of several male minors while at Sacred Heart, Waterloo, in 1974 and at St. Patrick, Cedar Rapids in 1978. His priestly activities were restricted in 2002. He works at the Dubuque Archdiocesan Center in Dubuque.






JOHN SCHMITZ

Ordained in 1957.

Accused of abusing one female minor at Sacred Heart, Dubuque, in 1959. A California woman also claimed in 2003 that he abused her when she was a minor. His priestly activities were restricted in 1985. He died in 1991.






WILLIAM SCHWARTZ

Ordained in 1958.

Accused of abusing a number of male minors at St. Joseph, Waterloo, 1964-1966, and at Columbus High School, Waterloo, in 1978, and at St. Jude Parish, Cedar Rapids, in 1983. His priestly activities were restricted in 1993. He was defrocked in 2005 and is living in Arizona.





ROBERT SWIFT

Ordained in 1944.

Accused of the sexual abuse of several male minors, while at Sacred Heart Parish and Mercy Hospital, both in Oelwein, in the early 1950s. He died in 1980.



Note: The Rev. Nicholas Cigrand was accused by a Cedar Rapids man of abusing him while the man was an altar boy in the 1960s. His 2004 lawsuit against the archdiocese was dismissed by a judge. The man's case is on appeal to the Iowa Supreme Court.
