Christian Brothers Seeking Bankruptcy

Victims of sexual abuse at the hands of the Christian Brothers have until August 1st to file a claim. It’s because the Christian Brothers, who ran the Mount Cashel orphanage in St. John’s, are filing for bankruptcy. A recent published ad shows the Christian Brothers Insitute and the Christian Brothers of Ireland Inc have filed for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy protection in the United States. The Mount Cashel scandal in Newfoundland was one of the first major sex abuse scandals involving the clergy and the Roman Catholic Church to be revealed in North America.
