PHILADELPHIA — A former Philadelphia priest suspected of abusing more than 20 children has been criminally charged after a new accuser came forward.

Seventy-five-year-old Fr. Robert L. Brennan was arrested in Perryville, Maryland, where he’d been living since he was suspended after a 2005 grand jury report.

At the time, prosecutors said it was too late to pursue complaints that went back decades.

But accusers now have more time to pursue charges, and a new accuser says Brennan sexually assaulted him from 1998-2001, starting when he was 11.
