A longtime teacher at a Bronx Catholic school has been dismissed after the school says he admitted to sexually abusing children several decades ago.

Cardinal Hayes High School sent a letter to parents Monday telling them that Father Robert Harrison had been removed.

He has also been stripped of his ability to serve as a priest or engage in any type of ministry.

The letter said Harrison told school officials about the abuse just before Christmas break, during an investigation into his finances.

Harrison said the abuse took place in the 1970s and 80s in the Bronx, Manhattan and Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
