A Catholic priest who worked in Harlow during the 1990s has been convicted of abusing a vulnerable boy at a care home.

Father Tony McSweeney, 68, attacked the teen at the home in Hounslow between 1979 and 1981.

The disgraced clergyman, who was priest of the Holy Cross & St Luke’s parish between 1993 and 1997 and now lives in Pease Pottage, West Sussex, was found guilty by a jury at Southwark Crown Court of one count of indecent assault and three charges of making indecent photographs of children.

But he was cleared of three counts of indecent assault and one of taking an indecent photograph of a child.
