Now, he’s running for a leadership post in the U.S. Conference of Catholic bishops. Our town’s Archbishop Robert Carlson is campaigning for the chairmanship of the USCCB’s Catholic Education Committee. Carlson was deposed in the case against Fr. Joseph Ross, who worked in Richmond Heights, Woodson Terrace, Pacific, U. City and elsewhere. The election is next month in Baltimore. Carlson’s opponent is the bishop of Youngstown, Ohio, says noted Catholic blogger Rocco Palmo. …

PRIESTS’ PENSIONS

Some funding levels for pensions of priests have fallen below 65 percent. The St. Louis Archdiocese now requires parishes to contribute to the retirement of their priests. Archdiocese CFO Robert Bouche tells Reuters: “Aggressive steps have been taken in recent years to increase funding levels.”
