The former Master of the Coombe Hospital has resigned from the project board of the new National Maternity Hospital in solidarity with Dr Peter Boylan.

Dr Boylan resigned from the board yesterday after criticising ownership of the new €300m taxpayer-funded facility being given to the Religious Sisters of Charity, saying they were “blind” to their actions.

RTE reports that in his resignation note Professor Chris Fitzpatrick echoed these sentiments.
