The billboard in Algés attesting to child sex abuse in the Portuguese Catholic Church and hastily covered up ahead of the Pope’s cavalcade passing has been allowed to return today – the municipality of Oeiras admitting the subject is too important to hide. It is not in exactly the same place, but there is only 200 metres difference. According to SIC television news today, the municipality “backed down following public indignation”. The official reason for covering the billboard up is that it had not been licensed by the municipality.
