An affidavit is shedding more light on charges accusing a Tell City pastor of sexual misconduct with a minor.

Last week, Errol Wright was arrested and charged with multiple counts of sexual misconduct with a minor, child seduction and child solicitation.

Tell City residents “shocked” following arrest of local pastor

Recently released court documents show the incidents allegedly took place over a three-year period. The documents also show Wright was a girls’ soccer coach at Tell City High School and when rumors of an inappropriate relationship with an underage girl surfaced, the school said Wright could not be around the girls unless another adult was present. The documents also show the school reported its suspicions to the Indiana Department of Child Services. It is not known what action the department took. The documents also show the underage female claimed after one of her sexual encounters with Wright, Wright made her take a “morning after pill”.

The affidavit says the victim came to police on February 21 to report a sex crime that happened beginning in 2016.

The victim said it started when she was 15 years old when she started attended Community Christian Church where Wright was also attending.

Court date set for Tell City pastor accused of sexual misconduct with a minor

She said Wright took her in and not long after, Wright became pastor at the church. She said Wright was about 40 at the time.

She claimed Wright had sexual intercourse with her more than 100 times until she was 18.

She also claimed Wright had intercourse with her while on vacation in Jamaica and bought her a phone, a car and other things when she turned 16. According to court documents, she claimed after one of her sexual encounters with Wright in Jamaica, Wright made her take a “morning after pill”.

The documents show the underage female says Wright promised to leave his wife for her, but she said as time went on, she realized that wasn’t going to happen.

The Indiana Department of Child Services tell us the agency refused to comment on the matter stating it is not allowed to speak on matters involving child confidentiality.
