Wolverine Human Services targeted in another lawsuit alleging staff sexually abused minors

Three more former residents of a shuttered Wolverine Human Services facility in Saginaw County have filed a lawsuit, alleging staff subjected them to prolonged sexual abuse.

They join more than a dozen others who have filed similar suits against the operators of the juvenile detention facility.

Chicago attorney Nicholas P. Wainwright on Monday, June 22, filed the lawsuit against Wolverine Human Services (WHS) in Saginaw County Circuit Court on behalf of two men and one woman, identified by their initials to retain their anonymity. The plaintiffs are all younger than 28 and reside in Detroit, Royal Oak, and Ann Arbor.

No charges following Saginaw diocese abuse probe, AG’s office says

Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel released a report this week identifying 37 priests and one deacon accused of misconduct in the Diocese of Saginaw spanning 75 years, though the investigation produced no criminal charges and no priests currently serving in active ministry face allegations.

The 258-page report examined how the diocese handled abuse cases from 1950 to the present, covering priests ordained for the diocese and religious order priests who served during that time. The investigation is part of a statewide review of all seven Catholic dioceses in Michigan that began Sept. 21, 2018.
