Accusations against the Edinburg pastor charged with indecency with a child late last month include instances of him kissing, hugging, touching the victim inappropriately and removing her clothing.

McAllen resident Jorge Ivan Gonzalez Martinez, who works at Poder Y Gloria Church in Edinburg, is charged with three counts of indecency with a child and one count of indecency with a child exposes.

The investigation began when the victim made an outcry to her dad on July 19, according to a probable cause affidavit.

The victim told police that she had been touched inappropriately on multiple occasions at their church located at 4801 S. Business Highway 281 between March and April 2025.

At 8:30 a.m. on July 24, an Edinburg detective attended a Children’s Advocacy Center interview with the victim who said the abuse began when Gonzalez gave her hugs that “became tighter” over time which included “body contact.”

“(The victim) stated the tighter hugs evolved into him giving her kisses on the forehead, cheeks and lips,” the affidavit said. “(The victim) stated all these incidents occurred when (she) was in the camera room of the Poder Y Gloria Church.”

In one instance, Gonzalez touched the victim’s chest inappropriately after exposing her when he lifted her shirt and bra.

In another instance, Gonzalez had her lay on the floor and close her eyes when he pulled her leggings and underwear down, again exposing her, and putting her legs on his shoulder.

Another incident occurred when Gonzalez asked if she would like to touch him only for Gonzalez to place her hand on his crotch over his clothing after she didn’t respond to his question.

Gonzalez was arrested on July 28 bailed out of the Hidalgo County Adult Detention Center last Thursday on $70,000 in bonds.
