Ajury has found Sally-Anne Bowen, a former teacher at Christ’s College in Finchley, guilty of seven counts of indecent assault. The offences involved two pupils at the north London school and took place in the late 1980s when the victims were aged between 14 and 15. Bowen, who was in her mid-20s at the time of the assaults, is now 65.
Jury Verdict at Harrow Crown Court
The verdict was delivered on Thursday at Harrow Crown Court after a trial. One of the complainants told the court that he had experienced sexual contact with Bowen approximately 20 to 30 times over several months. He described visiting her home and believing he was in a relationship with her, stating he had fallen in love.
During the proceedings, Bowen maintained that the allegations were untrue. She presented a defence that she had an undiagnosed medical condition in the late 1980s that made sexual intercourse difficult and painful. The jury did not accept her defence and returned the guilty verdicts on all seven charges.
Bail and Sentencing
Sally-Anne Bowen, who resides in Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire, was granted bail following the jury’s decision. Her sentencing is scheduled to take place on November 20.
