Police received tip from a U.S.-based centre for exploited children about a B.C. IP address
A Christian school teacher in Campbell River, B.C., has been sentenced to 18 months in jail after pleading guilty to possession of “child pornography,” now called child sexual abuse and exploitation material.
The B.C. Prosecution Service said in an emailed statement that Jeffrey Falk’s sentence would be followed by a two-year probation order.
At the sentencing on Tuesday, the court also imposed a DNA order, a forfeiture order and a prohibition order, which includes prohibiting Falk from attending a public park or public swimming area where people under 18 years old are or could be present, in addition to prohibiting him from daycares, schoolgrounds, playgrounds and community centres.
The order also prohibits Falk from seeking employment or volunteering in a capacity that involves “being in a position of trust or authority” for people under 18.
The prosecution service said the sentence was the result of a joint submission by Crown and defence.
Police said in October 2025 that a search of Falk’s home in June found a “substantial collection” of child sexual abuse and exploitation material, including images and videos.
Campbell River RCMP Const. Maury Tyre said at the time police received a tip in May 2025 from the U.S.-based National Center for Missing and Exploited Children about a Campbell River IP address that had uploaded an image that would qualify as child sexual abuse and exploitation material.
During the investigation, thousands of images were recovered, Tyre said.

Falk taught at Campbell River Christian School (CRCS) until July 2025, but “left” the school’s employment on the same day school officials learned of the investigation, according to a school news release last October.
This Wednesday, Dennis Peeman, principal of CRCS, acknowledged the sentencing of the school’s former staff member.
Peeman said the matter has caused significant pain for those affected and the broader school community.
He said the school does not condone Falk’s behaviour in any form.
“The safety, protection, and well-being of children remain among our highest responsibilities, and we are grateful for the work of the RCMP and the justice system in addressing this matter,” he said.
“As a Christian school, we seek to respond with truth, compassion, and a steadfast commitment to the example of Jesus Christ. We continue to pray for healing, strength, and peace for all those impacted.”
