Alleged offences not related to students from Catholic school board, police say
A vice-principal with the Waterloo Catholic District School Board (WCDSB) is expected to enter a plea in a Kitchener court in October.
Michel Pleau, 50, from Cambridge was charged and arrested in February following a child luring and sexual exploitation investigation by Waterloo regional police that also involved police services in Toronto and Sudbury.
Police said Pleau is facing half a dozen charges that include possession, production and distribution of child sexual assault and abuse material, invitation to sexual touching and luring a child under the age of 16.
Police say the alleged offences are not related to students from WCDSB. The school board said in February it would co-operate with police.
In an email to CBC News Thursday, a spokesperson for the board said Pleau has “been placed on unpaid suspension” and does not have access to any of the board’s systems or facilities.
The board said the next steps regarding Pleau’s employment “will be determined following the outcome of the court proceedings.”
Pleau is expected to be in court on Oct. 27.
