After an investigation that lasted more than a month, a Massachusetts man is facing charges in connection with the rape of a child in the basement of a church in Milford, police announced.
Milford police said Raul Feliciano, 63, of Worcester, lured the victim to the church last month.
The investigation began on Sept. 9, after the victim reported the incident to Milford detectives. Feliciano was arrested on Friday by the Worcester Police Department and is charged with rape of a child and indecent assault and battery on a child under 14.
“To violate a child is among the most heinous of crimes. Doing so in a place of worship only further cements the depravity of this assault,” Milford Police Chief Robert Tusino said in a statement.
Bail was set at $15,000, and Feliciano is due back in court this week.
