Fr. Regis Myers

Ordained: 1954
Status: Accused

Diocese: Diocese of Altoona-Johnstown PA

Per the PA Attorney General’s 3/1/16 Grand Jury report, a man told the diocese in 1997 of misconduct by Myers when the man was a 15-year-old postulate of the Third Order Regular of the Franciscan Friars in Hollidaysburg PA. He said he met Myers there, who got him to live with him as a housekeeper at Myers’ parish, St. Catherine Siena in Duncansville. Myers was said to have told the boy to sleep in his bedroom and, while naked, invited the boy to shower with him. The diocese did not contact law enforcement; instead, they tried to put the man in contact with Myers. Died 1/13/11.

Our Database of Publicly Accused does not state or imply that individuals facing allegations are guilty of a crime or liable for civil claims. The reports contained in the database are merely allegations. The U.S. legal system presumes that a person accused of or charged with a crime is innocent until proven guilty. Similarly, individuals who may be defendants in civil actions are presumed not to be liable for such claims unless a plaintiff proves otherwise. Admissions of guilt or liability are not typically a part of civil or private settlements. For more information, see our posting policy.
