Fr. William G. Ward

Named publicly as credibly accused by the Buffalo diocese on its list 3/20/2018. Ward died in 2008. Accused in a lawsuit in 8/2019. Included on the Raleigh diocese’s list 10/22/2019; the 1951 Catholic Directory lists him as a Buffalo priest assigned to St. Leo’s in Winston-Salem. The Raleigh list notes alleged abuse in 1955 outside the diocese, reported in 2019. On the Charlotte diocese’s list 12/29/2019, which notes that Ward was ordained for the Raleigh diocese, where worked briefly. By 1952 Ward was working in the Diocese of Buffalo. Abuse is alleged to have occurred in NY 1955-1956 and 1966-1971. A lawsuit in 10/2019 claims abuse in the late 1960s-early 1970s of an altar boy in NY, age 12 or 13. A suit in 6/2021 claims abuse 1963-1967 of a NY minor, ages 13-17.
